Gardening tips for August

If the weather continues to be hot and dry, don’t forget to reduce the frequency of your mowing and to raise the height of the blades. Grass in these conditions won’t be putting on too much growth.

For those of you going away on your holidays, to make things easier for those of you that have organised a friend or neighbour to tend to your containers, try placing all the containers together to make it easier to water. Also the plants being together will increase the humidity and reduce the chance of the plants from drying out.

Hardy Geraniums can now be cut back removing old growth and spent flower heads, this will make them look tidier and will promote new growth and hopefully may produce another bloom of flowers later in autumn. Don’t forget to give them a little feed and water once this has been done.
