Keep hoeing weeds in your borders before they get a chance to establish, it so much easier to do so when they are still a small size. Doing this prevents the weeds from flowering and seeding. Also consider mulching bare soil with organic matter which will also prevent weed seeds from germinating, however just remember to water dry soil first to keep it damp.
If you have recently planted young trees or shrubs, remember to water them well, particularly in warm dry conditions. Keep doing this to give the roots a chance to establish. Remember to water the plants in the evenings; this will prevent the water from evaporating during the day.
Keep deadheading tulips and daffodils; however remember to leave the foliage intact, at least for six weeks, this allows the bulb to take in as much energy as possible. Therefore feeding next year’s flowering bud.
